If, like us, you need one more relaxing weekend before the busy-ness of September, spend part of the last day of August at the Bergen Farmers’ Market: Saturday, August 31, 10am-1pm, Bergen Community Hall. We’ll have a full slate of more than 20 vendors, offering the best of Bergen’s gardens and farms, along with top quality arts and crafts.

Organic BC fruit this weekend: freestone peaches, by the pound and by the case; prune plums; field tomatoes, and new-crop garlic. Local vegetables run the gamut from greens and brassicas (broccoli, kale and more), to peas, beans, carrots, beets, potatoes, onions … all you could want for healthy eating. Double N Ranch brings local, grass-fed beef, as well as their famous bread creations, irresistable gooey cinnamon buns and tasty cookies.

Artisan baguettes and Breakfast Sandwiches are BACK, by popular demand!

DustyRoad coffee will wet your whistle, and you can sample (and take home) the offerings of Tamarack Jack’s (mead & honey) and Sundre’s own Greenwood Distillers (gin and wassail). Other vendors will tempt you with granola, preserves, Asian sauces and fruit crisps; Watkins products and beautiful African baskets; pottery, quilting, crocheting, jewellery, and metal art; pet treats and Tupperware. And you know there are always a few surprises!
